The general rules

Eligibility doesn't depend on your blood type — the same rules apply to everyone: donors are typically 17–65 years old, weigh at least 50 kg, and are in good general health on the day of donation.

What can mean a short wait, not a permanent no

Some medications, a recent illness, recent tattoos or piercings, or recent travel to certain regions can mean a temporary waiting period rather than exclusion from donating altogether. Clinical staff at the donation site confirm your eligibility on the day — it is not something to self-diagnose in advance.

How often you can donate

Whole blood donors generally need to wait at least 8 weeks (56 days) between donations. Platelet and plasma donation intervals differ — see the donation guide for the full breakdown by donation type.

Once you know you're eligible, check blood type compatibility to see who your donation can help, or browse open requests in the app.
